With the Pro 5, Hope has leveraged this experience to create a product that meets the demands of current and future bicycle technology. The Pro 4 has proven itself to be one of the most reliable and versatile hubs on the market. Hope has further developed this proven technology with several improvements: improved sealing and reduced drag in the freehub body, increased load capacity at higher torques, even better durability, more drive points, and better compatibility with new drive systems. These factors were equally considered and combined in the hub design.

The highlight of the PRO5 hubs is that all hubs can be converted to other axle or freehub standards as usual; the RS4 conversion kits are also compatible with the new Pro 5 (Centerlock). Therefore, you can now buy a quick-release hub and use it with a thru-axle on your next bike.

The sealing of the hub
Reliability is always a top priority in product design. The external seal plays a key role in the Pro 5. Hope has further developed the Pro 4's design in this area with a new seal on the drive side, providing a better seal and less drag. This system is designed to withstand even the worst weather conditions, even in the UK!

Reducing the resistance in the freewheel

• The Hope Pro 5 builds on this, offering a balance between engagement speed, load capacity, durability, and resistance. This has advantages in practice and has been achieved through improved sealing with a new zero-drag labyrinth seal, and an improved ratchet and pawl system with new springs. Both significantly reduce drag and increase durability and load capacity compared to the Pro 4. Another major update to the rear hubs is the increase in engagement points (from 44 to 108) using a staggered 6-pawl freehub design, with 3 pawls engaged at all times. This achieves the right balance between engagement speed, load capacity, resistance, and durability. In practice, this means a fast feel on the trail while keeping crank movement at an acceptable level without compromising the free running of the hub or its reliability.
