With a newly designed chainring called Ruphus, Kappstein is now closing the gap and, in addition to the sprocket, also offers a solution for the crank. This stiff and very light chainring was CNC milled from a 5mm thick 7075T6 aluminum plate. Six different levels create an interesting look that invites you to take a closer look. With 99 grams (49T) and high rigidity, this chainring is an announcement for anyone who places demands on design and performance. This set up is also a new opportunity for our friends from the fixed gear scene to get even more out of you and your bikes. Kristina Vogel uses this system at the Olympic Games in Rio. We gain experience in professional track cycling and fixed gear use. The experience gained is constantly incorporated into the improvement of our products.

The design comes from Rafael Krome, a young Munich product designer who has already worked on projects for a well-known automobile manufacturer from Bavaria. He is also a member of the notorious Hardbraker Gang from Hamburg. 100% Made in Germany.

This chainring is the counterpart to the “Sprocket ProLine”. If you want to take advantage of the advantages of an 11-speed chain, the Ruphus ProLine chainring is the right gear for your crankset. The chainring has also been given a special alloy. Thanks to this hard coating, the surface of this chainring is up to 3 times harder than a conventional chainring. The degree of hardness now roughly corresponds to that of a Kappstein stainless steel sprocket.

WHAT DOES PROLINE MEAN?
The ProLine is a new line that was developed specifically for competitive sports or for extremely high demands. All products that have the “ProLine” add-on have been optimized accordingly. The optimization can fall into different areas. These include, among other things, weight, stiffness, durability, functionality, compensation or material. The first product in this series is a new sprocket that was created in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Development of Sports Equipment (FES). A special sprocket was developed here, which was optimized for 11-speed chains. This product was developed for the German national track cycling team for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016. Both endurance cyclists and sprinters use this product in training and competition.
