Description
The completely newly developed ALDHU CARBON is more than a lighter and stiffer crank from ROTOR
With the new carbon option, ROTOR gives you entry into the world of modular ALDHU cranks
The ROTOR Aldhu Carbon® is a new generation of super light and stiff cranks with unique variability and upgradeability.
Our engineers spent four years developing our new flagship in order to once again surpass the highly developed Aldhu made of aluminum. The result is a modular crank system with a significant reduction in weight while at the same time significantly increasing stiffness. The Aldhu Carbon is made from high-end carbon and beautifully refined
A gem on every bike. Increases in weight can be elegantly compensated for by disc brakes without losing the necessary rigidity.
How much lighter and stiffer is Aldhu carbon?
ROTOR's first-generation aluminum ALDHU® weighs just over 600 g with a 172.5 mm crank arm length and 50/34 direct mount chainrings, a top value for extruded and CNC-manufactured cranks. Taking advantage of high-end carbon fiber, the new carbon crank arms save around 100 g and the total weight drops to 523.5 g!
At the same time, the absolute vertical and horizontal stiffness of the cranks was increased by 11% and 36.1% respectively.
Possible crank combinations
Every cyclist has individual requirements for the comfort and performance of their equipment and ultimately these also determine the riding experience and performance.
The ALDHU®Carbon cranks can be equipped with different types of chainrings. Round or oval, via direct mount or classic with a spider and also in aero versions. Various axles make the crank compatible with almost every bike on the market and also fit perfectly into groups from other manufacturers. Even a power meter spider can be integrated into this modular infrastructure.
ROTOR has divided the possible crankset combinations into four categories: Standard, Superlight, Aero, and Full Aero with 1x and 2x configurations (standard offers 2x).
Twin leg technology
ALDHU® carbon crank arms were developed in combination with ROTOR's 30mm axles. The patented interface between crank arms and axle offers easy installation with a tight fit. The design solves a specific problem, namely preventing power losses caused by axle torsion of the axle under pedal force. The ROTOR axes effectively reduce power losses. At ROTOR we call the balance that is achieved to minimize these losses
OCP mount
OCP technology allows the rider to gradually adjust the alignment of the oval ROTOR Q RINGS® chainrings relative to the crank. The OCP assembly is based on the combination of three independent elements: axle, right crank arm and Spider or DirectMount Q RINGs®. The patented crank interface for DM Q RINGS® enables the most precise adjustment of an oval chainring to date.
This is the only way to really adjust an oval chainring to the rider's individual needs and pedaling technique and to bring pedaling efficiency, traction control and, above all, the reduction of joint stress to an optimal level.
Thanks to the modular design of ALDHU®, every rider can completely customize their crankset. ROTOR added this concept to its range for the first time in 2017 and has continuously added further components.
Upgrades for ALDHU CARBON
If you already have an ALDHU® or VEGAST® crankset, the ALDHU®Carbon upgrade only requires an 8mm Allen key and 2 minutes of time.
Upgrading a ROTOR INspider power meter can also be done in minutes and without any specialist knowledge. This new system provides accurate power measurement, cadence, balance values via two proprietary metrics, Torque 360 data and the optimal chainring angle. This perfect and professional, but very easy to use combination allows you to optimize the drive yourself!
Spider or direct mount combination chainring – the choice is yours
The ALDHU Carbon is of course compatible with other road bike groups from Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo and offers future-proof technology thanks to Direct Mount.
