The aluminum seat post - Thomson MASTERPIECE

The Masterpiece is more than 40% stronger in breaking strength tests than the strongest seat post products on the market. Masterpiece supports weigh approximately 40g less than Elite supports of the same size. This weight reduction is achieved while maintaining the strength and durability expected from a Thomson seatpost. Thomson achieves this weight reduction by holistically machining the blank, while maintaining the oval inner diameter. Through machining we are able to maintain tighter tolerances than would be possible through extrusion alone. Machining an already beautiful design turns the Masterpiece seatpost into a work of art.

The seat post tube and head of the Thomson Masterpiece seat post are manufactured entirely from a single piece of high-strength 7000 series aluminum. The head is not pressed or glued. This makes superior strength and minimal weight possible.

We have a long 41mm seat rail clamp length. This helps prevent the seat rail from bending under impact loads. Most other seat posts have clamp lengths that are at least 1.3 cm shorter than our clamp length.

The Thomson Masterpiece seatpost design includes bend protection to prevent catastrophic failure. All competing seatposts we tested completely failed the seat and clamp components, and sometimes some parts of the tube and head flew in all directions.

The Thomson Masterpiece seatpost features a clamp, head and top tube strong enough to withstand 441 Nm of torque. The tube will begin to give way and bend at the saddle clamp at approximately 312 Nm of torque. During severe impacts, the Thomson seat post will bend slightly but will allow the rider to stop or continue riding.

All parts of the Masterpiece seat post cannot be lost and can be attached to a seat with ease and without dismantling.

Very low profile clamps mean no interference with seating as the union nuts are located at the bottom between the seat rails.

The models and materials have passed numerous durability and breaking strength tests. Our ongoing testing program ensures that every batch of seat posts meets Thomson standards.
